SEWER LINES
Sewer lines are probably not something you think about on a daily basis. The times that we do think about them are often when they negatively affect our lives. A sewer line is essential to the functionality of a household, but when they stop functioning properly they can also become our worst nightmare!
What is a Sewer Line?
A sewer line is as simple as it sounds…a sewer line is the main pipe that runs from your home toward the main sewer, outside of your home. Water from the entirety of your home passes through it on its way to the sewer, from every sink, toilet, and tub!Â
The main cause of sewer line problems is typically clogging. Clogs mainly occur when inappropriate items are flushed down the toilet or put down kitchen sink drains. For the bathroom, we’re talking paper towels, disposable wipes, and feminine hygiene products being discarded through the toilet. The kitchen sink sees more food items washed down the drain, including eggshells, grease, and other food and waste materials. All of these items have the potential to cause a clog in your sewer line.
In some cases, simply removing the source of a clog might not be the best overall solution. Due to the nature of our sewer lines being hidden from sight and out of mind, it is commonplace for years of build-up and for natural wear and tear to occur before problems start to show. If needed, Miller’s will perform a sewer line cleanout to fix the problem or prevent them before they occur. If you are experiencing frequent disruptions to your plumbing from your sewer line, it might be time for a full replacement. Sometimes the wear and tear to a line, or the build-up is simply too much for a cleanout to be effective long term. Oftentimes, nature can cause issues with a sewer line as well. Things like the shifting of earth or tree roots can create the need for a full sewer line replacement. While that might seem daunting, it can save you money, and your sanity in the long run.
Miller’s has been providing professional maintenance to the Gloucester area for over 45 years and knows the pains that a clogged or damaged sewer line can bring to a homeowner. Giving customers the satisfaction of knowing their problem is fixed is why we do what we do.
